SBI introduces a new FASTag design for cars, jeeps, and vans to enhance toll collection efficiency.
State Bank of India (SBI) has launched an advanced design for its FASTag aimed at improving travel time. The updated FASTag, specifically for Vehicle Class 4 (cars, jeeps, and vans), utilises advanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to streamline toll payments. Affixed on the vehicle’s windscreen, this device enables seamless toll transactions without the need for cash payments.
The new FASTag design enhances vehicle identification and toll collection efficiency. This improvement aims to reduce travel time for millions of commuters across India. The enhanced design helps toll plaza operators accurately identify vehicles, minimising the chances of incorrect toll charges and reducing chargeback cases, thus increasing revenue for both the government and toll concessionaires.
Additionally, the new design facilitates faster toll payments, significantly cutting down wait times at toll plazas. The tag can be purchased from authorised issuers and, if linked to a prepaid account, requires periodic recharging. SBI’s new FASTag design is a significant step towards a more efficient and seamless toll collection process, benefiting commuters and toll operators alike.
