Amazon India introduces ‘Sushruta’, a wellness initiative for truckers, focusing on their health needs during long hours on the road.
Amazon India has unveiled ‘Sushruta’, a health and wellness program tailored specifically for truck drivers, in a bid to address their unique health challenges. Collaborating with over 350 trucking partners employing thousands of drivers, the initiative targets the well-being of those spending extensive periods behind the wheel.
The program’s primary objective is to promote long-term health practices among drivers and their families. Health camps, including screenings for over 70 parameters, have been organised across various locations such as Bengaluru and Manesar. Partnering with NGOs like Premansh Foundation and Anchal Health Centre, Amazon aims to ensure widespread participation.
Arun Kumar Singh, Director of Amazon Transportation Services, stresses the program’s significance in acknowledging and tackling drivers’ neglected health issues. Offering a comprehensive range of screenings from blood tests to eye examinations, ‘Sushruta’ aims to identify health concerns promptly. Furthermore, it provides access to teleconsultation services and affiliated health centers for regular check-ups.
The initiative has garnered praise from drivers like Thipparaju G, emphasising the value it adds to their lives. Following a successful pilot in 2022, Amazon has expanded ‘Sushruta’ to encompass a broader range of healthcare services, reaffirming its commitment to driver welfare.
