Maersk enhances ME2 ocean service with port calls in North Europe, benefiting Indian exporters and importers.
Maersk announced the expansion of its ME2 ocean service to include port calls in North Europe, specifically Rotterdam, Felixstowe, and Bremerhaven. The new port rotation will facilitate faster access to consumer markets in North Europe for exporters in North India, particularly in the lifestyle and retail sectors.
Transit times between Mumbai ports and North Europe will be reduced by five to seven days, benefiting manufacturers and exporters. Importers in India’s automotive sector will also experience quicker transit times for automotive components from North Europe.
Morten Juul, Head of Regional Ocean Management for Indian Subcontinent, Middle East & Africa at Maersk, emphasises the company’s commitment to faster and more reliable ocean services. Despite the expansion, the weekly nominal capacity of the ME2 service will remain unchanged. However, Maersk will add two additional vessels to accommodate the extended coverage in North Europe.
