The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) of the UAE joins forces with Lootah Biofuels to accelerate the development and utilisation of biofuels as a sustainable energy source.
The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) of the UAE and Lootah Biofuels, a prominent circular economy advocate specialising in biofuel production from cooking oil, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral relations and collaborate on advancing biofuels as a sustainable energy alternative.
The MoU, signed at the Lootah Biofuels factory in Dubai Industrial City, was formalised by H.E Sharif Salim Al-Olama, the Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs in the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and Yousif bin Saeed Lootah, the Founder and CEO of Lootah Biofuels.
Key areas of focus outlined in the MoU include joint research and development endeavours to cultivate the biofuels market in the UAE, as well as knowledge-sharing initiatives through workshops and seminars for industry stakeholders. Additionally, the partnership will facilitate the exchange of vital data related to biofuel production and distribution, crucial for informed policy decisions and monitoring progress towards clean energy targets.
This collaboration aims to raise awareness and promote the adoption of biofuels across the UAE, contributing to the nation’s energy security and environmental sustainability goals.
The MoU underscores the UAE’s steadfast commitment to its clean energy objectives and the Net-Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative. Through synergising Lootah Biofuels’ expertise in biofuel production with MOEI’s leadership in energy policy, this collaboration is poised to drive significant progress in the biofuels sector, ushering in a greener and more sustainable energy landscape for the UAE.
