In a bid to shed light on the evolving aviation landscape in India, FAST organised a seminar titled “Emerging Scenario in Aviation: India Needs Matching Infrastructure & Support Services.” The event, held on December 28, 2028, at India International Center, New Delhi, featured prominent figures from the aviation industry.
Lt. Gen. KM Seth, PVSM, AVSM (Retd.), former Governor of Tripura and Chhattisgarh, and President of FAST, inaugurated the event.
The seminar highlighted key aspects, including the significance of Public-Private Participation, Technological Innovations for Seamless Passenger Experience, and the Potential of Jobs in Aviation. Discussions revolved around the current exciting phase for India’s aviation sector, especially after the game-changing privatisation of Air India.
Post-COVID-19, India’s airport sector was acknowledged to be ahead of demand, with the continuous efforts of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in building and enhancing airport capacity. Emphasis was placed on the long-term travel appetite of Indians, both domestically and internationally.
Enabling institutions such as DGCA, CNS, BCAS, and their role in terms of training, security, and safety were discussed. The need for these institutions to adapt to cutting-edge technological developments was emphasized, even if it requires rebuilding.
The seminar touched upon tax structures, emphasising the choice between Incremental or Transformative Change. It highlighted the challenges on the technical and fiscal sides and urged planning for transformative change. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Raman Sidhu, FCA, Chairman, EBG Federation, India, and Life Trustee of FAST.
