Indore, the financial hub of Madhya Pradesh, is undergoing a transformation into a significant railway center, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. During the inauguration of the main election office of Ramesh Mendola, the sitting BJP MLA from Indore-2, and the party’s candidate for the upcoming assembly elections, Vaishnaw revealed the city’s burgeoning railway infrastructure.
Several ambitious projects with a total worth of thousands of crores of rupees are currently underway in Indore. These initiatives encompass the development of new rail lines in six directions within the city, the doubling of railway lines, and gauge conversion.
Among the notable projects are the Ratlam-Indore-Mhow-Khandwa-Akola rail line, the Indore-Manmad rail line, the Indore-Dahod rail line, and the Indore-Jabalpur rail line.
Vaishnaw also emphasised the efforts to modernise Indore’s main railway station and Laxmibai Nagar railway station, along with ongoing work on a multi-modal cargo terminal.
