Air India is gearing up for a substantial expansion this winter by introducing more than 400 additional weekly flights. This ambitious move comes as the airline plans to induct 30 new aircraft into its fleet by March next year.
The expansion strategy is predominantly focused on international routes, encompassing destinations in North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Air India is set to unveil four new international destinations as part of this initiative.
A significant portion of the expansion will strengthen Air India’s domestic network, with over 200 weekly flights added to routes connecting major Indian cities like Mumbai and Delhi.
In recent developments, the airline has already increased flight frequencies on eight international routes across Southeast Asia, the United States, and Europe. This expansion and modernisation align with Air India’s ongoing transformation, aiming to meet the growing demand in the market and provide a better travel experience for passengers.
By March 2024, Air India expects to welcome over 30 new aircraft into its fleet, comprising widebody and narrowbody planes, including A350s, B777s, and A320neos.
