Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, marked a significant milestone as he virtually laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 26 National Highway Projects, collectively valued at over Rs.17,500 crore, from Guwahati. In addition to this, he conducted a comprehensive review of the National Highway Projects across the North Eastern States and Sikkim, accompanied by Union Minister General VK Singh and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
During a media interaction in Guwahati, Gadkari underscored the rapid development in all North Eastern states, emphasising that road infrastructure projects exceeding Rs.1 lakh crore have been executed in Assam over the past decade. He reported that 136 projects in Assam have been completed, with 64 projects underway and an additional 48 projects in the pipeline. Furthermore, he revealed approvals for the construction of a state-of-the-art 35 km, 4-lane elevated corridor at Kaziranga National Park and the Guwahati Ring Road project.
