WFS to open a 25,000+ m² cargo hub at Lyon Airport, boosting pharma logistics in the world’s top vaccine-producing region.

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), part of SATS Group, will open a state-of-the-art cargo terminal at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport by summer 2026. Set on a 5.2-hectare site, the 25,313m² facility includes 19,133m² of warehousing, 4,400m² of temperature-controlled GDP-compliant space for pharma and perishables, and 36 dock doors, five customised for aircraft pallets.
Located near the runway in Lyon’s CargoPort zone, the terminal is being developed in collaboration with Groupe em2c, Prologis, and Aéroports de Lyon. It will consolidate WFS’ regional operations and serve as France’s second-largest hub after Paris CDG. The project is expected to generate over 300 jobs and play a pivotal role in boosting the Rhône-Alpes region’s air logistics infrastructure.
The facility is designed for sustainability, aiming for BREEAM ‘Very Good’ certification. It will feature rooftop solar panels, EV charging stations, LED lighting, and efficient energy use to reduce its carbon footprint. As part of SATS-WFS’s 215-station global network, the terminal strengthens trade lanes covering over half of global cargo volumes.
