WCO unveils the Smart Customs Community Portal to boost technology adoption, collaboration, and global supply chain security.
The World Customs Organisation (WCO) has launched its new Smart Customs Community Portal, a major initiative under the Smart Customs Project, funded by the Customs Cooperation Fund of China (CCF-China). This cutting-edge platform aims to close the digital divide among WCO members, empowering them to harness disruptive technologies for improving global supply chain security and efficiency. The portal aligns with the WCO’s 2022/2025 Strategic Plan, which focuses on innovation and technology.
The portal offers a dynamic, collaborative space for customs administrations to enhance their performance. It serves as a platform for exploring innovative technological solutions and fostering progress through collective expertise. Designed for both public and restricted use, the portal provides open knowledge-sharing sections while offering exclusive areas for WCO members to engage in focused peer-to-peer learning and discussions about technology adoption and digitalising Customs operations.
Looking ahead, the portal plans to introduce additional features, such as a section for resources gathered from stakeholder consultations and a research corner dedicated to insights from academia on the adoption of disruptive technologies in customs. WCO encourages customs officials, especially those in charge of digital strategies, to join discussions as National Contact Points and take advantage of the exclusive forums for ongoing collaboration and knowledge exchange.
