The VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, located in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district, has received approval from the PPPAC to proceed with its plan to build a four million TEUs capacity container terminal in the port’s outer harbor.
The Rs. 7,055.95 crores investment project has also secured “in-principle” approval for a viability gap funding (VGF) of Rs. 1,950 crores. This marks a strategic move, as the port aims to call global bids for the terminal’s construction and operation.
The new terminal is expected to enhance the port’s capacity and contribute to its global connectivity, aligning with the government’s infrastructure expansion initiatives.
