The Visakhapatnam Port (Vizag Port) has achieved a remarkable feat in container handling, setting a new record for the highest number of containers handled in a single day. On July 8, Visakha Container Terminal, the PPP/BOT operator at Vizag Port, successfully handled a parcel size of 4,035 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) containers in a single voyage, surpassing the previous record. This achievement demonstrates the port’s efficiency and capacity to handle large volumes of cargo.
The previous best recorded in December 2021, stood at 3,921 TEUs, handled from the MV MSC Aldi III ship. The new milestone underscores the continuous growth and development of Vizag Port as a key hub for container shipping and trade in the region.
The port’s ability to handle such a significant parcel size in a single day reinforces its position as a reliable and competitive maritime gateway.
