Virgin Atlantic extends 20-year partnership with TCS to modernise systems using AI and cloud solutions.

In a major move to redefine the future of air travel, Virgin Atlantic has extended its two-decade-long partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for another seven years, aiming to modernise core airline operations with cutting-edge AI and cloud-first technologies.
The renewed strategic alliance focuses on accelerating Virgin Atlantic’s digital transformation, enhancing its technological resilience, and enabling personalised, connected, and sustainable flying experiences. TCS will overhaul the airline’s tech infrastructure with a cloud-first, AI-powered digital core, bringing higher agility, improved scale, and smarter decision-making to the forefront.
A key highlight of this collaboration is the launch of a Technology Command Centre, co-developed by TCS and Virgin Atlantic. This command centre will act as a centralised hub. offering real-time operational insights, optimising tech operations, and empowering frontline crews with contextual data to ensure seamless customer and crew experiences across all travel touchpoints.
Oli Byers, CFO, Virgin Atlantic, stated, “Technology will enable us to deliver smarter, simpler, and more memorable experiences. TCS has been a trusted partner for over two decades, and together we’ll continue to build toward our vision of becoming the most loved travel company.”
TCS will deploy proprietary platforms such as TCS Cognix™ and TCS AI WisdomNext™ to streamline Virgin Atlantic’s operations, boost efficiency, and unlock new growth opportunities. A dedicated team of TCS associates with in-depth knowledge of the airline’s ecosystem will lead the execution.
Amit Kapur, Country Head, UK & Ireland, TCS, said, “This partnership embodies a shared vision to build intelligent, scalable digital ecosystems that will redefine air travel.”
TCS, a recognised leader in aviation technology with solutions like TCS Aviana™, has supported Virgin Atlantic in transforming areas such as crew, cargo, and enterprise systems. In 2024 alone, Virgin Atlantic served over 5 million passengers across more than 30 global destinations.
This renewed agreement marks a new chapter in their collaboration—geared toward building a future-ready, resilient, and sustainably profitable airline.
TCS, with over 50 years in the UK and partnerships with half of the FTSE100, remains a top-ranked IT services provider, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and excellence in aviation.
