Company’s rail-focused, digitalised logistics network spans ports, plants, and global markets with a sustainability focus.

Vedanta Aluminium transported over 55 million tonnes of raw materials and finished products in FY2025, accounting for nearly 4% of Indian Railways’ total freight movement. Operating primarily across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh, the company’s logistics network links mines, refineries, smelters, and ports, making it the largest container cargo exporter from Paradip Port and a supplier to over 100 destinations across six continents.
With railways as its logistics backbone, Vedanta operates more than 40 dedicated rakes, set to exceed 50, to reduce emissions, road congestion, and diesel use. It is the largest customer of CONCOR and among the top freight users in Indian Railways’ East Coast Zone. Sustainability measures include India’s largest fleet of 75 lithium-ion electric forklifts and the country’s first all-women locomotive team.
Digital innovations such as a control tower and real-time tracking enhance efficiency and resilience. CEO Rajiv Kumar said the company aims to scale cargo handling to 80 million tonnes, aligning with PM Gati Shakti, while fuelling job creation and economic growth in rural and industrial hubs.
