PM GatiShakti National Master Plan celebrates three years of accelerating infrastructure development and fostering multi-modal connectivity across India.
Launched on 13th October 2021 by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) has marked its third anniversary, achieving remarkable milestones in reshaping India’s infrastructure. Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, highlighted the transformative impact of PM GatiShakti, stating, “It has brought a paradigm shift in how India plans and implements infrastructure projects.”
Key Achievements:
- Unified Platform: The integration of 44 Central Ministries and 36 States/UTs has created a robust system with over 1,600 data layers, enabling synchronised planning and execution. Over 200 major infrastructure projects have been evaluated by the Network Planning Group (NPG), emphasising multi-modal connectivity and streamlined logistics.
- Social Sector Impact: Extending the PM GatiShakti framework to the social sector, Ministries are using it to address gaps in healthcare, education, and infrastructure in underserved regions, ensuring equitable growth.
- State Master Plans: All 36 States/UTs have developed their State Master Plan portals, enhancing regional development. Over 533 projects have been mapped, aligning with national goals.
- Logistics and Trade Facilitation: Aligned with the National Logistics Policy, PM GatiShakti has contributed to lowering logistics costs and improving India’s global logistics ranking. India has improved its position in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index from 44th in 2018 to 38th in 2023.
- Sustainability and Innovation: The PM GatiShakti framework integrates geospatial technology, GIS-based tools, and real-time monitoring, driving faster decision-making and promoting sustainable infrastructure development, contributing to India’s Net Zero goals by 2070.
- Training and Capacity Building: Over 20,000 officials have completed training on the PM GatiShakti platform, with over 150 interactive sessions engaging 1,000+ officials. Central Training Institutes have incorporated it into their curriculum, equipping officials with essential skills for infrastructure planning.
Future Vision:
Looking ahead, PM GatiShakti aims to expand its reach to district-level planning, smart cities, and industrial corridors. It is also fostering diplomatic collaborations with countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, promoting integrated infrastructure planning on an international scale.
As PM GatiShakti continues its journey, it remains central to achieving India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision by creating a modern, interconnected infrastructure network, enabling inclusive and sustainable growth.
