Union Minister launches LEAPS 2025 and logistics-focused PM GatiShakti tools to boost efficiency nationwide.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, today highlighted the transformative impact of PM GatiShakti on India’s logistics ecosystem, emphasising its role in improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing last-mile connectivity across the country.
Shri Goyal unveiled several logistics-focused initiatives to strengthen planning, execution, and performance monitoring:
- Launch of LEAPS 2025 (Logistics Excellence, Advancement and Performance Shield) to recognise leadership and innovation in logistics.
- Opening of the PM GatiShakti NMP platform to the private sector via a query-based analytics mechanism, enabling access to geospatial data for optimised logistics planning.
- Introduction of the Data Uploading & Management System (DUMS) and dashboards to track logistics and transport efficiency in real time.
- Implementation of District Master Plans for 112 Aspirational Districts, supporting area-based planning for transportation, industrial development, and intermodal connectivity.
Shri Goyal noted, “PM GatiShakti has emerged as a vital bridge between macro-level planning and micro-level implementation. Streamlining last-mile connectivity, especially in coal transport from mines to power plants, has drastically reduced costs and improved overall logistics efficiency.”
He added, “With expansions into ocean resource mapping, offshore and underground cable routes, and telecom/data networks, PM GatiShakti is becoming a central tool for integrated infrastructure and logistics planning, driving India toward Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Over the past four years, PM GatiShakti has evaluated over 300 infrastructure projects, optimised intermodal transport, and developed State Master Plan portals across all 36 States/UTs, ensuring logistics and supply chain networks are efficient, integrated, and data-driven.
Shri Goyal emphasised that these initiatives, combined with advanced dashboards and analytics, will continue to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and make India’s logistics sector more competitive on a global scale.
