SAIL opens first Middle East office in Dubai, eyeing exports and stronger India-UAE steel ties.

In a major push to expand its global footprint, the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has officially opened its first Representative Office in Dubai. This marks the company’s first overseas presence in the Middle East, signalling a strong move towards tapping international markets and strengthening India’s steel export capabilities.
The Dubai office was inaugurated by Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy in a ceremony attended by key dignitaries, including Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India to Dubai; SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash; NMDC CMD Amitava Mukherjee; and senior officials from the Ministry of Steel, NMDC, MECON, and SAIL.
Strategically located, Dubai serves as a vital gateway to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The new office is expected to play a critical role in driving SAIL’s export initiatives, forging stronger regional partnerships, and boosting trade ties between India and the UAE.
This move aligns with India’s broader ambition to raise steel production to 300 million tonnes by 2030 and reflects SAIL’s evolution into a globally competitive player in the international steel landscape.
