In his interview with CargoInsights, Viswanathan mentioned that the FFFAI Convention plays a significant role in boosting the logistics sector. He said, “It is always good to get the industry players, the policymakers, and other beneficiaries under one roof. Some key initiatives like e-FBL for FIATA members are a great boost to the ecosystem as a whole.
Speaking on the role of technology in the “freight forwarding industry,” he reiterated, “Ultimately, technology is to improve the customer experience at desired costs. Technology in freight forwarding has been twofold:
1. Disrupters—Digital companies that are becoming freight forwarders themselves and are providing end-to-end services.
2. Enablers—those who enable existing freight companies to compete with disruptors by implementing new tools.
Both the above models have progressed well due to sufficient external capital pumped in.
