NHPC, a prominent Indian hydropower company, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RITES, a prestigious Miniratna Schedule ‘A’ Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. The agreement aims to establish a railway siding at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, catering to NHPC’s ambitious 2,880 MW Dibang Multi Purpose Project.
The strategic alliance leverages the expertise of both NHPC and RITES to ensure efficient and comprehensive solutions. RITES, acting as a Project Management Consultant, will contribute its prowess in developing rail infrastructure facilities for NHPC’s Dibang Project and upcoming ventures in Arunachal Pradesh.
The MoU signing, held at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad on August 21, 2023, witnessed the presence of key officials from both NHPC and RITES. This collaboration signifies a vital step towards bolstering the infrastructure required for the Dibang Multi Purpose Project, aligning with NHPC’s commitment to sustainable hydropower development.
NHPC, with a renewable installed capacity of 7,097.2 MW, stands at the forefront of India’s hydropower sector, while RITES excels as a Miniratna Schedule ‘A’ Public Sector Enterprise in the transport consultancy and engineering domain.
