Munich Airport has witnessed positive growth in its freight business and passenger volume during the first half of 2023. The airport’s freight volume reached 132,404 tonnes, marking a four percent increase compared to the same period last year. The surge in air traffic is also evident in the passenger figures, with 16.6 million passengers recorded, a notable 28 percent rise from the previous year. This passenger volume accounted for approximately three-quarters of the airport’s record figure in 2019.
Moreover, Munich Airport achieved a new record for the average seat load factor, reaching nearly 80 percent. The number of aircraft movements also saw a significant increase, with 141,504 movements recorded in the first half of the year, reflecting a growth rate of over nine percent. Currently, the airport offers flights to 200 destinations across 60 countries worldwide, showcasing its expanding global connectivity.
