The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced that container liner MSC has added King Abdulaziz Port to its Upper Gulf Express shipping service.
The new route, which launched at the end of May, uses a 4,000-TEU vessel to connect the Dammam-based centre with the Arabian Gulf ports of Khalifa, Sharjah, and Umm Qasr.
The pan-GCC cargo link gives King Abdulaziz Port a competitive advantage in regional trade while also achieving a major goal of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to increase the Kingdom’s competitiveness as a significant investment destination on the world maritime map.
King Abdulaziz Port, a logistical centre of excellence equipped with cutting-edge facilities and top-tier capabilities, continues to set operational records after records, the most recent in March when it handled 18,553 TEUs on a single ship.
