The Mormugao Port Authority, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Government of India, is organizing a one-day conference titled “Port of the Future” on July 5th, 2024. The event will take place at the International Centre Goa, Dona Paula, North Goa.
The conference aims to deliberate on the transformation of major Indian ports into ‘Port 4.0,’ leveraging advanced technologies to digitally transmute key business processes. This transformation is expected to improve security, increase operational efficiency, enhance port sustainability, and enable seamless navigation and real-time data transmission within and among major ports.
A significant focus of the conference will be the implementation of 5G technology to improve navigation, security, and efficiency. The use of advanced vessel traffic management systems and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in vessel traffic services will also be key discussion points.
Attendees will explore how 5G communication networks have been implemented in global ports and how technologies such as AI, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) have enhanced the competitiveness of these ports. The goal is to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for Indian ports to adopt these technologies and improve their overall operations.
