Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma revealed the state’s intention to transfer control of Lengpui airport to either the Airports Authority of India (AAI) or the Adani Group for its comprehensive development.
Lalduhoma’s statement, made after discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, highlighted the state government’s dedication to resolving the Assam-Mizoram border dispute through peaceful dialogue rather than violence.
The Chief Minister expressed a strong desire for an amicable solution to the long-standing issue, stating, “We no longer want violence at the inter-state border. All disputes should be settled through dialogue.”
This stance comes in the wake of the tragic incident on July 26, 2021, when Assam and Mizoram police clashed near Vairengte village, resulting in the death of six Assam Police personnel and numerous injuries. The move to entrust Lengpui airport to either AAI or Adani Group aligns with the state’s broader efforts to enhance infrastructure and foster regional development.
