LP Logiscience plans to transition 50 percent of its fleet to electric and CNG vehicles.
LP Logiscience, the warehousing and 3PL division of the Liladhar Pasoo Group, has unveiled a significant initiative to revamp its transportation network towards sustainability. With an ambitious target of converting 50 percent of its fleet to electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, the company is set to address the increasing demand for eco-friendly logistics services. This move underscores LP Logiscience’s commitment to both environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
The logistics industry, responsible for about 14 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions according to the World Bank, faces significant environmental challenges. Traditional logistics contribute heavily to air pollution and global warming through emissions from fossil fuel-powered vehicles. In response to these pressing issues, LP Logiscience’s transition to a greener fleet represents a crucial step in mitigating the environmental impact of logistics operations.
In addition to green transportation, LP Logiscience has demonstrated its dedication to sustainability through infrastructure improvements. Their state-of-the-art warehouse in Bhiwandi, Mumbai, spans 15 acres and features a 500,000 sq. ft. storage facility powered by a 450 kW solar plant. This installation generates 610,000 units of clean energy annually. The facility also includes a rainwater harvesting system and extensive tree plantations, emphasising the company’s holistic approach to sustainability.
Currently, LP Logiscience manages a complex supply chain network, handling over 28,000 shipments each month across 19,000 pin codes. The company operates 150 owned vehicles and partners with an additional 1,200 vehicles, including both light-duty trucks and 40ft containers. By shifting 50 percent of this fleet to EV and CNG options, LP Logiscience aims to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance service efficiency.
Director Varun Gada stated, “Sustainable logistics is a core priority for us. Expanding our eco-friendly fleet and exploring advancements in LNG and hydrogen-powered vehicles for long-haul needs are integral to our strategy. This initiative aligns with our commitment to minimising environmental impact and improving customer satisfaction.”
Looking ahead, LP Logiscience plans to expand its geographical reach and fleet size, supported by technological advancements such as live tracking and documentation automation. These efforts aim to enhance service coverage, ensure faster delivery times, and provide a seamless customer experience. By investing in these sustainable solutions, LP Logiscience is positioning itself as a leader in the future of green logistics.
