Korean Air is partnering with air cargo customers and forwarders to introduce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for air cargo operations. Through the Korean Air Cargo SAF program, customers can make customised contributions to reduce their carbon footprint, with Korean Air transparently sharing the emissions reduction achieved through SAF usage.
This initiative is part of Korean Air’s commitment to carbon emissions reduction and its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Korean Air has been actively involved in promoting eco-friendly biofuels in Korea, collaborating with government, private institutions, and refiners to enhance SAF production and application. SAF, derived from alternative sources, can reduce carbon footprints by up to 80 percent as compared to traditional aviation fuel, contributing significantly to the industry’s net-zero emissions targets by 2050, as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
