Kerala proposes to designate logistic parks, including those under government-private partnerships, as ‘industrial areas’ to streamline operations and mitigate conflicts among porters.
In a bid to enhance operational efficiency and resolve conflicts among porters, Kerala plans to reclassify logistic parks, both privately owned and established through government-private partnerships, as ‘industrial areas’. Amendments to the Porter Act will facilitate this transition, ensuring smoother functioning within these parks.
The initiative aims to transform logistic parks into state-of-the-art facilities equipped for mechanised loading and unloading of goods. Special provisions will be introduced to ensure the safe transportation of goods via machinery, prioritising worker safety and efficient logistics operations. These modifications are slated for implementation by June, marking a significant step towards modernising Kerala’s logistics infrastructure.
Additionally, the redesignation of logistic parks as industrial areas is expected to streamline the transportation of goods both into and out of the state, facilitating smoother trade and commerce activities. This strategic move underscores Kerala’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for economic growth and industrial development.
