K-SOTTO plans district-level logistics tender to streamline organ transport and boost efficiency in transplantation procedures.

The Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (K-SOTTO) is preparing to issue a fresh tender to empanel service providers for handling logistics in organ and tissue transplantation activities. The move follows the failure of an earlier State-wide tender that drew limited responses.
According to officials, the new tender will focus on appointing district-wise service providers to ensure better efficiency in procedures such as transporting organs between retrieval and transplant centres, moving cross-match samples between hospitals and labs, and providing logistics support to inspection teams and empanelled doctors. Ambulance and taxi services will be enlisted for organ and donor transfers, while medium-sized vehicles may be used for training and workshops.
Dr. Noble Gracious, Executive Director of K-SOTTO and State convener of the Mrithasanjeevani organ transplant programme, said the service would initially be launched in Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kozhikode, the busiest transplant hubs, before expansion to other districts.
At present, such logistics are arranged by doctors or hospitals themselves, and K-SOTTO believes a streamlined system will ensure faster, seamless responsiveness during transplant activities.
