Kashmir’s handicraft exports have reached ₹2,567 crore in two years, with projections to hit ₹3,000 crore by March 2025.

Kashmir’s renowned handicraft and handloom sector has recorded exports worth ₹2,567 crore over the last two fiscal years. Officials anticipate the figure to reach ₹3,000 crore by the end of March 2025.
According to the Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Kani and Sozni shawls led exports with ₹1,105 crore, followed by hand-knotted carpets at ₹728 crore. Other major exports include papier-mâché, crewel, chain stitch, and wood carving.
Despite global trade disruptions, the government is offering a 10% export subsidy, up to ₹5 crore, to boost international sales. Measures to authenticate products through QR coding and GI certification have also been strengthened.
Under the National Wool Policy, 100 weavers received modern carpet looms, with 250 more planned next year. Additionally, over 17,000 women have been trained in handicrafts, receiving ₹36.27 crore in stipends.
Authorities remain committed to expanding global markets and enhancing artisan support.
