JNPA sets a new record with 12.64% growth, handling 7.94 million TEUs and achieving peak monthly volumes.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority has announced a landmark achievement in its latest annual performance review. The premier container gateway handled a record 7.94 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) over the previous twelve-month period, representing a significant 12.64 per cent increase compared to the prior year.
Beyond container traffic, the port’s total cargo volume reached 99.17 million metric tonnes, an improvement of 9.86 per cent over the 90.27 million metric tonnes recorded in the preceding year. This steady upward trajectory was maintained throughout the year, culminating in a record-breaking performance in December. During that month, the facility managed its highest-ever monthly volume of 711,412 TEUs, surpassing the previous peak set earlier in the year.
The Port Authority attributed this success to a consistent rise in operational efficiency and stable demand across both containerised and bulk cargo segments. The figures, released on 02 January 2026, underscore the facility’s pivotal role in supporting national trade and logistics. By achieving these volumes, the port has further solidified its position as a leading maritime hub in the region.
The management noted that the integration of advanced tracking systems and improved coordination with terminal operators contributed significantly to the shortened turnaround times for vessels during the year.
