IndiGo’s Q1 FY2025 results show an 18% increase in total income to INR 202.5 billion and a net profit of INR 27.3 billion.
InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) has announced robust financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025. For the quarter ending June 30, 2024, the airline reported total income of INR 202.5 billion, an 18% increase from the previous year, and a net profit of INR 27.3 billion.
Key highlights of the quarter include an 11.1% increase in capacity to 36.3 billion, a 6.2% rise in passengers to 27.8 million, and a 1.3% improvement in yield to INR 5.24. Despite a 1.9 percentage point reduction in load factor to 86.7%, revenue from operations grew by 17.3% to INR 195.7 billion. However, fuel CASK rose by 10.5% to INR 1.77, and CASK ex-fuel increased by 11.1% to INR 2.86. EBITDAR for the quarter was INR 58.1 billion, representing a 29.7% margin compared to 31.2% in the previous year.
CEO Pieter Elbers expressed satisfaction with the quarterly performance, noting a solid 14% margin and a total income increase of 18% year-over-year. He thanked the 28 million customers for their loyalty and highlighted upcoming initiatives and the company’s 18th anniversary celebrations. Elbers also acknowledged the dedication of IndiGo’s employees.
For the quarter, passenger ticket revenues reached INR 165 billion, a 10% rise, while ancillary revenues grew by 13.9% to INR 17.6 billion. Total expenses increased by 24% to INR 174.4 billion. As of June 30, 2024, IndiGo’s cash balance stood at INR 361 billion, with total debt, including capitalized operating lease liabilities, at INR 525 billion.
IndiGo’s fleet included 382 aircraft at the end of June 2024, with a net addition of 15 passenger aircraft. The airline operated up to 2,029 daily flights and served 88 domestic and 30 international destinations. Operational performance showed 99.89% technical dispatch reliability and 74.8% on-time performance.
Looking ahead, IndiGo expects a high single-digit increase in capacity for Q2 FY2025. The airline also received several accolades, including the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion Award, Airline of the Year (domestic), Treasury Team of the Year, and recognition for the Digital Transformation Project of the Year.
