The nation’s largest airline, IndiGo, has made its debut in cargo operations as ‘CarGo’ by starting its A321 freighter aircraft between Delhi and Mumbai on the 15th of November.
321F, along with another aircraft that will be bought later in the year, will be deployed on international routes, informed IndiGo airlines.
As per the company, the aircraft was converted from a passenger jet to a freighter vessel, making it one of the most efficient narrow-bodied freighters.
Funded by Castlelake Aviation Holdings (Ireland), the inaugural flight carried a payload of approximately 20 tonnes on each leg. 25 container positions would be offered to support a payload of up to 27 tonnes.
The company is converting its aircraft via Elbe FlugzeugWerke (EFW)- a joint venture of ST Engineering and Airbus.
IndiGo officials are quite hopeful of their CarGo venture and believe that they will take it to new heights.
