Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka convened discussions of the Colombo Plan to explore opportunities in maritime sector development.
The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, held a significant meeting with Dr. Benjamin P. Reye, Secretary General of the Colombo Plan, and Rohan Masakorala, Lead Consultant of the Port of Colombo Capacity Building Project. The discussions centered on the strategic priorities of the Colombo Plan and avenues for enhanced collaboration.
India’s pivotal role in advancing the maritime and logistics sector in South Asia was underscored during the meeting. As one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, India’s developmental strides are poised to catalyse economic growth and connectivity across the region, benefitting other South Asian nations.
With a focus on maritime and logistics, the Colombo Plan, renowned as one of the oldest inter-governmental organisations, aims to bolster member countries’ capabilities by fostering the adoption of best practices and skill development in the sector. The collaborative efforts between India and the Colombo Plan hold promise for driving sustainable growth and fostering regional integration in South Asia.
