Shri Piyush Goyal meets the UAE trade minister to boost CEPA, investment, and sectoral collaborations, including food.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal held a bilateral meeting with UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, on August 29 to advance the India–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Both sides reviewed progress under CEPA and reaffirmed the target of achieving USD 100 billion in non-oil, non-precious metals trade by 2030.
Discussions focused on collaboration in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, supply chain resilience, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. The Ministers emphasised timely trade data sharing and agreed to convene the Sub-Committee on Services within two months. Indian pharma and food sectors also held stakeholder meetings, addressing regulatory facilitation and market access issues.
APEDA announced the Bharati Scheme to support 100+ food and agritech start-ups and signed an MoU with DWTC to showcase India as the partner country at Gulf Food 2026, with 1,200 sqm for food, marine, tea, coffee, and spice products.
Shri Goyal highlighted India’s 7.8% growth and the goal of a USD 5 trillion economy by 2027, while Dr. Thani praised the partnership as a resilient driver of bilateral trade and investment.
