ndia and Japan discussed trade, green steel, and investment opportunities at the 3rd Steel Dialogue in New Delhi.
The 3rd India-Japan Steel Dialogue took place on February 4, 2025, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The event was jointly organised by India’s Ministry of Steel and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Discussions focused on economic developments, steel sector trends, bilateral trade, and global market dynamics.
India emphasised initiatives to enhance ease of doing business, infrastructure-driven demand, and sustainability efforts, including the Green Steel Report. Japan shared advancements in steel technology and capacity-building programs. Both sides also reviewed the impact of the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism on steel trade.
The dialogue reaffirmed commitments to investment, technology collaboration, and skill development. India assured a supportive business environment, while Japan pledged continued investment in advanced steel technologies. The event, held under the 2020 Memorandum of Cooperation, strengthens bilateral engagement in sustainable steel production.
