At Nor-Shipping Oslo, India unveils major maritime investments and green goals.

India has committed USD 20 billion to develop multimodal logistics, port infrastructure, and trade facilitation, Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal announced during the India@Nor-Shipping session in Oslo. Addressing global maritime leaders, he emphasised India’s vision for a secure, efficient, and green maritime future under the Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions.
Sonowal highlighted India’s strategic corridors—IMEEC, EMC, and INSTC—as key to strengthening connectivity and global trade. India is also advancing green hydrogen hub ports at Kandla, Tuticorin, and Paradip, positioning itself as a leader in maritime decarbonisation under IMO’s Green Voyage 2050.
Sessions showcased India’s shipbuilding growth, ship recycling framework, and digital trade initiatives like ONOP, NLP (Marine), and MAITRI. Discussions on innovative financing explored India’s Maritime Development Fund and blended finance model to unlock private investment.
Calling for stronger Indo-Norwegian seafarer partnerships, Sonowal reinforced India’s role as a trusted maritime partner, ready to drive global sustainability and digital transformation in shipping.
