India and the EU have pledged to co-develop secure 6G networks and resilient supply chains under a new 2030 strategic plan.

India and the European Union have reinforced their strategic partnership by committing to the joint development of secure 6G telecommunications and resilient digital supply chains. This collaboration was formalised through the Towards 2030 comprehensive strategic agenda, which was endorsed during the 16th India-EU Summit held in New Delhi on 27 January 2026. The initiative aims to foster a trusted global digital environment, building upon earlier discussions held on 27 February 2025 and 28 February 2025 during the visit of the European Commission leadership.
A pivotal element of this agreement is the cooperation between the Bharat 6G Alliance and the European 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association. By aligning their research and innovation goals, both parties intend to create future-ready networks that prioritises interoperability, openness, and security-by-design. This industry-led engagement is expected to diversify telecom supply chains and establish globally harmonised standards for Beyond-5G and 6G systems.
The partnership also operates under the framework of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council, focusing on the standardisation and testing of emerging technologies. By sharing expertise in digital infrastructure, the collaboration seeks to ensure that future communication networks are affordable, sustainable, and inclusive. This commitment to 6G innovation positions India as a significant global contributor to the digital landscape, with the official announcement of these strengthened ties released on 28 January 2026.
