The Adani Group has appointed Arun Bansal as CEO of Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, an arm of Adani Enterprises Ltd that oversees the conglomerate’s airport operations.
Bansal joins the Adani Group from Ericsson, where he was Senior Vice President and market leader for Europe and Latin America. The development, according to sources, strengthens the management structure of the conglomerates’ airport operations. R.K. Jain will be the chief executive officer of airport operations, while Harshad Jain will remain the executive officer (non-aero).
V. J. K. Sharma will continue to be the CEO of Navi Mumbai International Airport, and Prakash Tulsiani will be the CEO of Mumbai International Airport Ltd.
Adani Enterprises emerged as the lowest bidder in 2019 and was awarded the rights to operate, manage, and develop airports in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangaluru, and Guwahati that had been privatised by the government for a 50-year period.
In September 2020, it acquired a controlling stake in Mumbai International Airport Ltd and Navi Mumbai International Airport from GVK Airport Developers, with the goal of combining tier 1 cities with tier 2 and tier 3 cities in an effort to create a hub and spoke model for its airport portfolio.
