In a strategic move, GMR Airports and its affiliated entities are poised to increase their ownership in GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL). The 11 percent stake acquisition from a unit of Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad represents a significant step in expanding their presence in the aviation sector.
Currently holding a 63 percent stake in GHIAL, this acquisition will bolster GMR Airports’ controlling interest to 74 percent. The Airports Authority of India and the government of Telangana retain their respective 13 percent stakes in GHIAL.
This transaction is expected to be finalised within a timeframe of up to 135 days from the date of the purchase agreement’s execution. The move is part of GMR Airports’ strategic vision to enhance its position in the airport management and aviation industry.
