In the heart of India’s cities, amidst Covid chaos, 8-year-old Kuhu launches a noble mission for sparrows.
Nesting Girl Kuhu, at just 8 years old, shines as a beacon of hope amidst the challenges of the Covid era. Her initiative, “Mera Ghosla,” takes flight as she endeavors to support the dwindling population of sparrows by distributing and installing birdhouses throughout her community.
What began as a simple birthday wish evolved into a widespread movement, fueled by Kuhu’s passion and the support of her friends, family, and eager volunteers. Together, they launched a heartwarming campaign under the banner of www.MeraGhosla.com.
However, this initiative transcends mere birdhouses; it embodies the essence of #ArtNirbharBharat by promoting indigenous craftsmanship and supporting local ecosystems. Volunteers meticulously craft birdhouses from reclaimed ply boards and woods, transforming waste into sanctuaries for avian life.
Backed by various ecosystem partners such as the Global Confederation of NGOs and Cargo Insights, Mera Ghosla gains momentum, advocating for the conservation of the state bird of Delhi and Bihar. Recognising the significance of birdhouses in urban settings, the campaign emphasises the importance of coexisting with nature amidst encroaching concrete landscapes.
Through educational programs and corporate collaborations, Mera Ghosla aims to establish sustainable habitats for our feathered companions, ensuring they have access to food and shelter amidst urban sprawl. As Nesting Girl Kuhu and her team continue to expand their wingspan, their message resounds: it’s imperative to build nests for our tiny friends, and they rely on our assistance now more than ever.
