FIEO welcomes PM’s visits to Japan and China, eyeing stronger exports, trade balance, and new investment opportunities.

The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has welcomed the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s official visit to Japan and China, calling it a crucial move to deepen India’s economic ties with two of Asia’s largest economies. “This is a timely step to strengthen trade, investment, and export growth,” said S. C. Ralhan, President, FIEO.
At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the PM is in Japan to attend the 15th Annual Summit, a pivotal platform to advance the Special Strategic and Global Partnership nurtured over the last eleven years. According to FIEO, the visit is expected to focus on expanding bilateral trade in goods, services, and technology-driven sectors; boosting Japanese investments in Indian infrastructure, MSMEs, and startups; and forging technology partnerships in AI, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.
Japan is already a key export destination for India, particularly in automobiles, pharmaceuticals, marine products, textiles, and engineering goods. Ralhan emphasised that the visit will encourage Japanese businesses to explore opportunities under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Export from India’ initiatives.
Following his engagements in Japan, the PM will travel to Tianjin, China, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, hosted by President Xi Jinping. India has played an active role in the SCO, introducing initiatives in innovation, health, and cultural exchange during its presidency.
At the SCO platform, India is expected to push for regional economic cooperation, address non-tariff barriers, and explore measures to rebalance bilateral trade with China. High-potential export areas include organic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, IT services, textiles, and agricultural products. China remains one of India’s largest trading partners, and FIEO supports efforts to enhance market access, reduce the trade deficit, and encourage mutual investment.
“The Prime Minister’s twin visits to Japan and China come at a time when India is positioning itself as a global manufacturing and export hub,” said Ralhan. “Strengthening ties with these economic giants will open new doors for Indian exporters, particularly MSMEs, in fast-growing sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, green energy, and digital technologies.”
FIEO expressed confidence that the high-level dialogues will lead to new trade facilitation measures, improved market access, and stronger economic diplomacy, in line with India’s vision of achieving a $2 trillion export economy by 2030.
