FFFAI marks International Women’s Day with a pioneering initiative, offering on-job training in logistics to underprivileged women.
The Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India (FFFAI) celebrated International Women’s Day by launching a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering underprivileged women. Partnering with Lok Bharti, an NGO dedicated to bridging skill gaps, FFFAI introduced a three-month apprenticeship program in shipping and logistics. This initiative, inaugurated at the FFFAI headquarters, aims to provide practical training and employment opportunities to women from marginalised communities.
Addressing the gathering primarily comprised of FFFAI Women’s Wing members, Chairman Dushyant Mulani lauded the initiative’s potential to transform the logistics landscape by fostering inclusivity. He emphasised FFFAI’s commitment to increasing women’s participation in the industry, aiming for a significant rise over the next few years.
Chaitaly Mehta, Convenor of FFFAI Women’s Wing, outlined the structure of the on-job training, emphasising its internship-based nature and the issuance of certificates upon completion. The initiative aims to equip participants with practical skills, enhancing their employability in the logistics sector.
FFFAI Chairman Elect Amit Kamat and other dignitaries commended the Women’s Wing for its efforts in promoting gender diversity and economic empowerment. Sudip Dey, Hon. Secretary of FFFAI, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to facilitating trade and empowering marginalised sections of society.
The initiative reflects FFFAI’s broader vision of not only facilitating trade but also contributing to societal welfare by creating employment opportunities for women and underprivileged individuals.
