FedEx Express expands operations in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) by unveiling a cutting-edge hub at Dubai World Central (DWC) Airport, reinforcing its commitment to technological innovation.
FedEx Express, a global express transportation giant, officially inaugurated its advanced hub at Dubai South, affirming a long-term investment exceeding $350 million.
In the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Raj Subramaniam, the facility’s opening signalled a strategic move to enhance FedEx’s footprint in the MEISA region. Richard W. Smith emphasised the hub’s role in improving connectivity, not only within the region but also as a vital component of the global air network spanning over 220 countries and territories.
The 57,000 sq. m facility boasts state-of-the-art technologies, including automated sort systems and high-speed x-ray machines, aimed at elevating efficiency, accuracy, and security in package processing. Kami Viswanathan underscores the hub’s significance in building sustainable supply chains, integrating digital capabilities powered by artificial intelligence. With a dedicated cold storage area and an all-electric ground fleet, FedEx aligns the hub with its commitment to achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040, contributing to a more connected and resilient global trade ecosystem.
