India’s EV market gears for a staggering $114 billion valuation by 2029 with a 66.5 percent CAGR, driven by governmental sustainability focus and increased VC investments. Surat’s Evify is carving a niche, revolutionising logistics in non-metro cities.
Surat-based startup Evify, founded in 2021, takes a distinctive approach by concentrating on last-mile delivery logistics in non-metro cities. With a user-friendly setup allowing riders to pick up and return EVs at the hub, the company manages vehicle maintenance. Operating successfully in Surat and Ahmedabad, Evify has achieved a significant milestone, facilitating 11 lakh deliveries in the past year.
In an exclusive interview, Co-founder and CEO Devrishi Arora discussed the challenges faced in the e-mobility space, particularly in non-metro areas. Issues such as a lack of infrastructure, charging station scarcity, and rider awareness are at the forefront. Evify combats these challenges through technological solutions, employing telematics devices for fleet control and a comprehensive tech platform to analyse rider analytics, battery data, and more.
Since its inception in September 2021 with 30 vehicles, Evify has grown exponentially, now serving major clients like Zomato, Flipkart, and others with close to 500 vehicles. The startup has secured $1.3 million in funding from GVFl and Piper Serica, aiming to expand operations to Vadodara and achieve a fleet of 10,000 vehicles across ten cities within two years.
Evify’s short-term goals involve expanding in Gujarat, reaching a fleet size of 5,000 vehicles by the next financial year, and establishing a robust EV ecosystem through collaborations. The long-term vision includes evolving into a green logistics service provider, implementing sustainable practices, and partnering with drop delivery services for comprehensive mid-mile solutions in the EV segment.
