DPIIT partners with Ather Energy to strengthen clean mobility and deep-tech startup ecosystem

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ather Energy, a leading Indian electric vehicle manufacturer, to advance India’s clean mobility and EV manufacturing landscape. This collaboration falls under the ‘Build in Bharat’ initiative of the Startup Policy Forum, a network of over 50 innovation-driven startups.
The partnership aims to foster strategic mentorship for deep-tech startups, provide infrastructure for EV value chain enterprises, and promote joint innovation through initiatives like the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge. It also includes co-organised skill development programs and exposure opportunities through major events such as Startup Mahakumbh.
The MoU was formalised in the presence of DPIIT Joint Secretary Shri Sanjiv Singh and Ather Energy Co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta. Singh stated that the partnership will catalyse India’s transition to sustainable transportation by supporting startups working on EVs, batteries, and clean energy.
Tarun Mehta emphasised the importance of policy backing in scaling hardware innovation. The initiative is expected to strengthen India’s startup-driven manufacturing ecosystem and align with national climate and industrial goals.
