India Post unveils DigiPIN—a 10-digit digital code for pinpoint home and business addresses across the country.

The Indian Postal Department has introduced DigiPIN—a 10-digit digital alternative to the traditional PIN code. Unlike the older system, which broadly defined regional zones, DigiPIN identifies the precise location of homes, offices, and commercial units within a four-meter radius.
Developed in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad, NRSC, and ISRO, DigiPIN leverages geo-coded technology to improve last-mile delivery accuracy. This transformation is expected to enhance parcel deliveries, streamline logistics operations, and support emergency services with improved location precision.
For the logistics and e-commerce sectors, this innovation promises significant gains—reducing delivery errors, optimizing routes, and improving customer experience, especially in complex or rural geographies. By visiting https://dac.indiapost.gov.in/mydigipin/home, users can generate their DigiPIN by selecting their exact location on the map.
As India moves toward smarter infrastructure, DigiPIN is set to play a critical role in building a more efficient, data-driven, and service-ready logistics network across urban and remote areas alike.
