Delhi’s upcoming logistics policy aims to ease freight traffic, reduce pollution, and improve ease of doing business.

Delhi is set to unveil its Logistics and Warehousing Policy, 2025, within the next 15 days, announced Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Sunday. The policy is designed to transform Delhi’s freight ecosystem with 16 targeted action points focused on reducing congestion, curbing pollution, and enhancing business efficiency.
Key initiatives include establishing dedicated logistics hubs, green freight corridors, and 24/7 operations at logistics parks via amendments to the Model Shops Act. It also proposes digital delivery management to streamline truck traffic and a single licensing system for trade and warehousing, cutting bureaucratic delays.
Sirsa highlighted that Delhi handles 10 lakh tonnes of daily freight using nearly 1.93 lakh vehicles, many entering city interiors and worsening congestion and air quality. Major contributors include trucks transporting building materials, textiles, food, and pharmaceuticals.
To address this, the policy proposes relocating warehouses to the city’s outskirts and creating three Urban Consolidation Centres, supported by incentives. Last-mile deliveries will shift to electric or CNG vehicles, aiming to ease traffic hotspots like Ghazipur and Karol Bagh, while setting a national example in sustainable urban logistics.
