In the Data Governance Quality Index (DGQI) evaluation for the December quarter (Q3) of FY23, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW) was ranked second out of 66 ministries. The ministry received a score of 4.7 out of 5, demonstrating its dedication to data governance excellence.
The DGQI survey, conducted by the Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), NITI Aayog, aims to assess the maturity of administrative data systems and their use in decision-making by various ministries and departments on the implementation of central sector schemes and centrally sponsored schemes. It also identifies reforms to reach the frontier of seamless data sharing and its synergistic usage inside the ministry, as well as clear approaches to accomplishing these goals.
Data Generation, Data Quality, Use of Technology, Data Analysis, Use and Dissemination, Data Security, HR Capacity, and Case Studies are the six key issues covered by the DGQI assessment. The National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways, and Coasts (NTCPWC) at IIT Madras, which was entrusted with enhancing MoPSW’s Management Information System (MIS) in compliance with DGQI standards, aided MoPSW’s performance in the DGQI assessment.
