Dadri-Jewar belt to become North India’s largest logistics hub, creating a rail-road-air freight gateway

One of the largest logistics hubs in north India is expected to be the Dadri-Greater Noida-Jewar belt.
A new air cargo complex at Noida International Airport (NIA) near Jewar, a major multi-modal logistics hub (MMLH) in Dadri, and a number of logistics parks and industrial townships under development are all set to revolutionise the area.
Together, these Rs 5,881 crore initiatives are forming a unique “rail–road–air” logistics triangle that, according to officials, has the potential to turn western Uttar Pradesh into a significant freight gateway for the nation. There will be three stages to the development.
The project will be created using a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer methodology in a public-private partnership (PPP). DMIC Integrated Industrial Township Greater Noida (DMIC IITGNL), the project’s special purpose company, has already released a global tender.
When fully completed, the 311-hectare logistics centre is anticipated to accommodate 1.44 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of container traffic and around 7.9 million tonnes of bulk cargo annually.
Within a single ecosystem, the Dadri MMLH will provide logistics companies with contemporary warehouses, cold storage, bonded facilities, container repair zones, packing and labelling units, and office space. The location is seen as a prize, as demonstrated by a techno-feasibility assessment for the Dadri MMLH, one of the major projects under the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
The hub is located where the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) and Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) converge. It makes it possible for high-axle-load freight rakes and long-distance, double-stack container trains to pass between the two routes with ease.
