Cathay Cargo is gearing up for increased air cargo activity in the traditional peak season and ahead of shopping holidays. While exports, especially from the Greater Bay Area, are driving growth, shortages of aircraft spare parts have caused temporary freighter schedule changes.
In September, Cathay reported a 15.3 percent rise in cargo tonnage YoY, with a 16.9 percent increase in cargo revenue tonne kilometers (RFTKs). The airline remains positive about cargo demand for the year-end, with plans to boost freighter capacity on transpacific routes and continued growth in intermodal sea-air feeder services from Dongguan, providing a cost-effective option for moving freight to its global network.
