Ayush exports rose 6.11% to $68.89m in 2024–25, aided by new trade pacts with Oman and New Zealand, says trade council.

The Ayush Export Promotion Council celebrated four years of operations on 04 January 2026, highlighting significant progress in global trade for traditional Indian medicine and wellness products.
Since its inception, the organisation has spearheaded initiatives to assist exporters through capacity building, streamlining shipping and customs procedures, and ensuring regulatory adherence. These efforts include hosting international trade fairs, business-to-business networking events, and educational seminars across global markets.
Official data reveals that exports of herbal and Ayush products increased by 6.11 per cent, rising from USD 64.92 million during the 2023–24 period to USD 68.89 million in 2024–25. This upward trend is attributed to the council’s expanded global footprint and a rising international appetite for traditional healthcare solutions.
A major milestone for the sector is the formal inclusion of these products in bilateral trade agreements. Specifically, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Oman and the Free Trade Agreement with New Zealand now feature dedicated sections for traditional medicine. Furthermore, the council is managing the newly introduced Ayush Quality Mark. This initiative, unveiled by the Prime Minister during the World Health Organization Summit on Traditional Medicine held between 17 December 2025 and 19 December 2025, aims to bolster international trust through rigorous quality assurance.
As the council enters its fifth year, the focus remains on deepening international partnerships, capitalising on existing trade pacts, and enhancing the global reputation of Indian traditional medicine through improved certification standards.
The council was originally registered on 4th January 2022 and saw its official inauguration at a global summit in Gandhinagar on 20 April 2022. It was subsequently designated as the primary export promotion body for this sector by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade on 31 July 2023. Operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Ayush and with support from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the body manages the international trade of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
